Little Miss Adelaide

I haven’t blogged about our sweet little Addie for way too long, so I took some pics today and thought I'd best do an update post. She is learning and growing SOOO much. It’s like she’s a completely new kid every few weeks, I can’t just let it slip by!

She’s 32 inches tall now and probably about 25 pounds; we get comments all the time on how tall and grown up she looks for her age. Her hair is really filling out and she has the cutest ringlets all across the back of her head.
She sleeps every night from 9pm to 9am (though last night she slept from 7pm-9:30am *gasp*), and she takes 2 naps a day that are usually 1.5-2.5 hours long. She rarely fusses at all when it’s time to sleep, we just put her in her room and she talks and plays until she drifts away. She gets into the cutest sleeping positions, every time I check on her it just melts my heart to see how cute she looks.
Addie’s always been a big eater, but it’s a bit ridiculous these days. She usually eats as much food per meal as most adults do. Seriously, that girl can pack it in like you wouldn’t believe.
Her cutest new trick is praying. When we say “It’s time to say prayers”, she bows her head and folds her arms. It is really just adorable. She takes the scripture reference of “pray always” quite literally though, because at least 6 or 7 times a day she stops whatever she is doing, folds her arms, bows her head, then stares up at me until she gets my attention and I say a little prayer. Honestly, my prayers in such instances are rather lame and short, but I’m sure God appreciates them all the same.

In these next ones, she was playing with her pen, then decided it was actually time for an impromptu prayer:

Really, she just loves to do anything that she sees us do. Her current favs aside from praying are using the phone, trying to plug things into sockets, talking, dancing, opening and closing drawers and doors, and taking care of her baby. She gives her baby back pats and swings her back and forth while hugging her, it’s really adorable.

We bought a crib to keep at my parents’ house last week and the lady who sold it to us also gave us this chair for Addie. It’s not a print I would ever pick out for ourselves, but whatever. I’m really glad we got it, Addie LOVES her “her sized” chair. She especially likes to unfold it and lay down on the pad. Seriously, it fills her with immediate glee.      She totally understands everything we say and instantly responds to any word that might have something to do with her. We don’t plan on teaching her more than a basic 5 or 6 signs (more, all done, food, drink, goodnight), but she already is well on her way to knowing and using each of them correctly each time. She does get them confused from time to time and winds up just doing each sign she knows until we give her whatever it is that she wanted, but overall— she’s made good progress. Her talking is improving and her attempts at words sound more and more accurate all of the time.
All of her new big girl exploits definitely come at a price though… just look at this whopper of an owey she got today when she fell and clipped her check and mouth on a chair:
Anyway, that’s everything that’s new with our sweet little girl! I can’t get over how grown up she is. She just does the cutest things all day, it really makes being a stay at home mom the BEST job in the world.
