The best way to camp

     We had planned on going camping with my parents this last weekend, but our plans kind of changed last minute. My parents were there for 3 days, and originally we planned on meeting them there for just a night and the next day. It was all rainy the first day we were going to be there though, so we wound up just sleeping at home and driving out and meeting my parents for a day trip the next day instead. Let me tell you, that’s the best way to camp!!!  We didn’t have to deal with getting Addie to sleep outside and we didn't have to pack all of our own camping gear, but we got all of the perks of camping all the same! We got out there in the morning, spent the day kayaking, playing at the lake, and hanging out at the campsite, then we had some yummy dutch oven food for dinner, roasted some smores, then went home after the sun set. All in all, it was the perfect day!
     We were at Lake Cushmen and it was a little slice of heaven on earth. The water is crystal clear and it was a great temperature. The whole lake is surrounded by forests and mountains and I just couldn’t get over how perfect it was.
     Addie stayed on the shores and played with my parents while Sam and I took their kayaks out on the lake. It was really cool!

  We kayaked out to a little island and claimed it as our own. There is now a “Burkman Island” in the middle of Lake Cushman. Here we are celebrating our conquest:

     After we kayaked, we played with Addie on the shores for a while. Here she is playing with her daddy:

  

     Then here we are back at the campsite:

It wasn’t all fun and games though. Addie took a pretty bad spill when climbing on a log.  It took some consoling to get her back in her “campy” place.

We cheered her up by letting her roast and eat her first smore!
