Birthday!

Though I definitely have guilt that Addie was at her birthday party, I am glad that she at least got to celebrate and experience her big day that she had been looking forward to SOOO much. With her being so sick all weekend, her birthday party really was the only celebrating she was able to do for both her birthday or Easter. Any time she started feeling better again, all she would talk about was her party and her friends and the fun activities we did- so it does make me happy that she has fun memories despite how horrible the rest of that day and following weekend were.
So here are the pics!

Sam and I stayed up the night before and came up with a cute bunny hat idea for the kids. We made the basic pieces of it so it would be easy for the kids to put together. They turned out pretty cute I think:

We also made these individualized bags for each guest to use for their eggs and candy. I made their initials with a die cutter and glued a piece of twine on for a handle.

Then here we are on party day! We had 15 kids total and it was tons of fun!

Here are all of our bunnies ready for the hopping race! I bought a bunch of pillow cases from goodwill so they’d have toddler-sized hopping bags. We did a few races and the kids seemed to really like it.

Then we played some toddler croquet, but we didn’t get any pics of that… so then came presents. This is the first time during the party that Addie started to show signs of not feeling too well, but she was really excited for her gifts all the same.

Then we ate pizza, and out came the CAKE! My wonderful friend from church Jacobi made this amazing cake for Addie. It tasted fantastic and Addie was over the moon with glee about her flower cake. She has talked about it daily since. The flowers were made of white chocolate and each kid got to come up and pick one and eat it. Seriously, the cake was quite the success. It was truly enormous too… so we had tons to bring home and nibble on.

Unfortunately, by the time everyone else was eating their cake, Addie started to look like this:

And then this:

Thanks so much to all of our dear friends who came and made Addie’s morning so great! She has LOVED her presents, everyone gave such thoughtful gifts. We’re so thankful to have such great friends.

Her actual birthday day looked mostly like this:

She did perk up for a while to play with some of her new toys though:

And here are my parents! I already talked about how wonderful and providential it was that my mom was here. My wonderful dad drove up just for friday night and then they both left on Saturday morning.

Really, most celebrating at that point was pretty forced due to her being sick… as this pic demonstrates :)

This birthday will certainly be a memorable one. Not necessarily for the best reasons… but it definitely made us grateful for our sweet little girl on a level we wouldn’t have been able to had we not had such a scare. We love this crazy little miss!

That cake is super cute. What a fun party-- you put so much work into it! And now you have all the pillowcases you ever wanted :)

jr got that tool kit last year and we LOVE it.

I'm glad addie is feeling better. I'm sure she would have been twice as sad if she hadn't been allowed to have her party after looking forward to it for so long so you would have felt guilty anyway!!
